Both can be a good choice. Start with what visitors need to do on your site, rather than how the site is built.
A template can suit a simple site with services, opening hours and contact details. Some templates can also support bookings, orders and connections to other tools. Check what is included, what costs extra and whether it fits your process.
Custom work may make sense when the available options do not fit how your business works, or when you need changes that the template cannot support. A booking button or a WhatsApp link alone does not mean you need a custom website.
Before choosing, ask:
- What should a visitor be able to do on the site?
- Can the proposed template or existing tool do that, including the steps after an enquiry, booking or order arrives?
- Who will look after the site afterwards, and what will setup, licences and ongoing work cost?
Ask for the scope, exclusions and ongoing costs in writing so you can compare the options.
If you are unsure, describe your business in an email to macd@macd.ie. We can help you work through the options. The consultation is free, with no commitment.
