Is your PDF timetable easy to use on a phone?

A quick phone check for gyms and studios.

MACD JournalUpdated 28 / 09 / 26

Gyms, yoga studios, dance schools and sports clubs often share their timetable as a PDF or an image. It made sense when timetables were printed. On a phone it doesn't work well.

People have to download it, pinch and zoom, and scroll sideways to find Tuesday. If they want to know which classes are for beginners, it's usually not there. Some readers may struggle with the download and zoom.

Who this is for

Gyms, fitness and yoga studios, martial arts and dance schools, sports clubs.

Check it this week

  1. Open your timetable on your phone, standing up, one-handed. How long does it take to find tomorrow's evening classes?
  2. Is the timetable online the current one? When was it last changed?
  3. Can someone tell from the timetable which classes suit a beginner?

An example

Imagine someone who has just moved to the area and wants to try a beginner yoga class after work. They find your studio, open the timetable, and get a wide PDF with small text and codes like "VIN" and "YIN L2". They close it and search for a studio with a clearer page.

What usually fixes it

A timetable page in real text that works on a phone: one day at a time, each class with its time, level and instructor, and a button to book or ask. It's easy to update when a class moves, and screen readers can read it too.

If you use a booking app already, the page can link straight into it, so there's one place to look.
