Websites · Note 06
Do your Google profile and website give the same details?
Check hours, phone and address in every listing.
It happens slowly. You change your hours on the door but not online. You get a new mobile number and update the website but not Google. You move and forget the Facebook page.
When details disagree, people can end up at a closed door or ringing an old number.
Who this is for
Trades, shops, clinics, salons: any local business people find on Google Maps.
Check it this week (10 minutes)
- Write down your correct hours, phone number, address and Eircode.
- Now check each place you appear: your website, Google Business Profile, Facebook, Instagram bio, any directories.
- Mark every difference. Don't forget bank holiday hours.
An example
For example, imagine a plumber who updates the website with a new mobile number, but the Google profile still shows the old landline. People who find him on Maps could ring a number nobody answers.
What usually fixes it
Pick one place as the master copy, usually your website, and make everything else match it. Update Google first, as a practical priority. Put a reminder in your calendar before each bank holiday to set special hours.
If you have to change something often, like seasonal hours, keep a short checklist of every place to update so nothing gets missed.
